David steps down… but then steps up again

We announced at the time of our AGM in November 2019 that David Smith would be retiring from the Trust Board having completed a three year term. David did not stand for re-election and was warmly thanked for his contribution.

However he was soon co-opted back onto the Trust Board given that the intended deal with Rob Couhig’s company Feliciana EFL Ltd had  not yet reached completion.

Whilst we did employ the services of one of the country’s leading commercial law firms with significant expertise and experience in sports law, and specifically, football, the Trust Board was able to also draw on David’s own considerable legal experience and knowledge which undoubtedly helped us reduce the costs required to get this deal over the line.

With the deal now completed, David’s period of co-option ended at the February Trust Board meeting at which he was again thanked for his considerable contribution and time commitment.

David is pictured here on the right as one of the Trust Board’s two representatives at the Kit Sponsors Dinner, along with Trust Director Alan Cecil and our sponsored player Alex Pattison.

But David Smith is not getting away from it. He has accepted the WWFC Board’s request to become their Company Secretary and will attend the first meeting of the new Football Club Board this month.
