John Rogers (1939 – 2020) R.I.P

We were saddened to learn of the death on Monday 17th February of John Rogers at the age of 80.  John had been rather frail and poorly for a while but his passing was unexpected and he had been hoping to see the game vs Tranmere this weekend.

He first attended Wycombe Wanderers matches in 1949 with his father, a family tradition that John handed on to his own sons, Andrew and William who still attend with their families.  John and his wife Gill, both season ticket holders, were last at Adams Park for the 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers on the 8th February.

John lived with many happy memories of some wonderful matches home and away,  including the 1975 3rd round FA cup matches against Middlesbrough, when he flew up there in a private plane to watch the replay.

He was a long time Trust member and contributor to both the Community Share Scheme and the 500 Club. In recent years John and Gill had taken part in the OWWSA quiz night, even though John’s deteriorating hearing made it difficult for him.

John will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Update 18.3.20: After a private committal, a church memorial service was held on Friday 13th March followed by a buffet reception in the Woodlands Lounge.
