As a Trust we are supporting The Big Step, which is being run by Gambling with Lives. www.gamblingwith lives.org
In March Gambling with Lives will be taking ‘The Big Step’ to raise awareness of the damage gambling addiction can do and the consequences and devastation it can cause.
The Big Step will take place on the weekend of the 6th/7th of March and their target is to tackle football’s relationship with gambling and to collectively walk 1137 miles, the distance between all football clubs in England, Wales and Scotland that has listed an official club gambling sponsor or partner.
The Trust have pledged their support for this and all Directors will be joining in and adding their miles to the total and you can help too.
The Big Step will take place remotely, so you can walk your miles near your home and add via the big team challenge app and whether it’s 1 or 10, every mile counts.
To register go to this online form Register for the Big Step 6-7 March 2021 (google.com) or email email@example.com for more information and to receive your event pack and details of how to claim your big step hoody or T shirt. Please register by 26th February.
Gambling with Lives is campaigning for an end to harmful gambling advertising and sponsorship in football. Their petition has recently been signed by Gary Lineker and Peter Shilton.
You may have seen this BBC Sport article last week, featuring an open letter from them to 11 football clubs regarding direct gambling promotion on social media. They’re reaching out to us in the hope we will use our platform as a supporters’ club to help us protect children and those at risk of gambling addiction.
Walk with us to help raise awareness of the devastating damage gambling addiction can do.
Let’s reach that target, together.
