Chairgirls Sign-off in Style!!

by Craig Anderson
Warminster 0-3 Wycombe Wanderers

Goals from Molly Carter, Emani Kassem, Kine Andersen and a clean sheet for stand in
keeper Bobby Lynch gave the Chairgirls a strong showing to close out the season.

With the reverse fixture finishing 2-2, the Chairgirls knew they had to be at their best and
they did just that. Riddington, Kassem and Carter caused the Warminster backline issues
with their pace and direct play. However, Wycombe where dealt a big blow when Katie
Riddington went down under a strong challenge from the opposing keeper. Katie has since
had a confirmed broken collarbone. We wish her a speedy recovery and fighting fit for the
new season.

Despite the interruption, Wycombe continued to push on and their persistence paid off in the
22nd minute with Molly Carter slotting home coolly into the left corner having latched on to a
beautifully weighted through ball from Mia Parkin.

The Chairgirls pushed on knowing a second goal could kill the game. However soon after
the break, stand in keeper Lynch had her first save to make Warminster’s forward took a
snap-shot, with Lynch saving at her near post.

The Chairgirls continued to try and get that all-important second goal. Finally, in the 77th
minute, substitute Axelle Courlander played a delightful back-heel flick to Emani Kassem
who took a touch and fired the ball into the bottom corner.

The final goal of the season came from the left foot of Norwegian midfielder Kine Andersen
when her cross-shot flew in at the far post in the 87th minute.

After a long hard season, it was a great way to end for the Chairgirls. The victory meant they
leapfrogged their opponents and finished 5th , an improvement on last season.

Assistant Manager Dan Weber said “Today was an excellent performance and we thoroughly
deserved the points. The players have worked hard all season, and the improvement is there
for all to see, with the team amassing more than double the points they achieved last
season. The squad and the club are set up ready for future success with the players, the support of the Foundation and with Carl at the helm. This was my last game with Wycombe
today and I want to thank Carl and wish them all the best for the future.”

Player of the Match today was Bobby Lynch. She selflessly went in goal after a late
withdrawal by regular goalkeeper Chelsea for medical reasons. She kept a clean sheet and
started many of our attacks with her pinpoint distribution”.

With the season being over we still have the sponsors cup on the 12th May at Burnham.
